Smugglers of the 1920s?

I want to take my character back to 1920s America via time travel. I want him to meet a smuggler who was not so famous as Al Capone but who managed to achieve a luxury lifestyle. Do you have any ideas who should my character meet? I'm not at home in the gangster world of America in the 1920s. Thanks for your help!
