Strongid for dogs?

My vet gives my dog wormer. I bought some from him thinking I would give it to them myself (cheaper and less stress, especially for the cat). Then I discovered strongid is an equine wormer. I don't know how I feel about using it for my chihuahua, akita, and himalayan cat. I use 1 cc for every ten pounds. the correct story. I just want to know what worms this will take care of and how effective it is. I don't want to be giving my dogs something that is ineffective. I hate the thought of giving them chemicals that don't help.
